How to Get Oogie Boogie Bash Tickets Every Year
Okay, imagine this. It's a Tuesday, and it's late June. You've been up since 7:30 AM Pacific Time, coffee in your cup, laptop open in front of you, your hands poised over your keyboard like a hawk ready to strike. It's 8:45 AM, and your heart is racing for one reason, in 15 minutes, tickets for the most popular Halloween party in Southern California go on sale, and if you blink, they'll be gone!
This is what it means to try to snag Oogie Boogie Bash tickets. I've done my research, pouring over all of the top sources, Reddit forums, Disney forums, and first-hand experiences out there, and I can tell you right now: this is no joke. These tickets sell out in under a day, scalpers are selling them for nearly $2,000, and Disney's own site crashed trying to handle all of the traffic!
But here's the thing, people get tickets every single year! The people who get them? They're prepared. They know how it all works. And after you finish this guide, you'll be prepared too!
Doesn’t matter if you're a newcomer looking to understand all of the hype, a Disney passholder looking to get the most out of your Magic Key, or a parent looking to make this Halloween season one your children will never forget, this guide's got you covered. We'll walk you through how to snag your tickets, how to pick your date, what to do on the night of the party, and even how to get in if you missed out on tickets!
What Is Oogie Boogie Bash? (And Why People Are Obsessed)
Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party is a separately ticketed after-hours party celebrating the spooky season and taking place at the Disneyland Resort's Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California. This event happens on select nights in August, September, and October and turns DCA into a place you can only visit on these special evenings!
That said, what makes Oogie Boogie Bash so special is the trick-or-treat paths through the park, the opportunity to see some of the villains you've never seen before at the park, the Frightfully Fun Parade with the Headless Horseman!, and the Villains Grove experience. To top it off, adults can wear costumes!
That's right, full costumes are welcome at the party. It's a spooky and fun atmosphere like no other at the Disneyland Resort. This party replaced Mickey's Halloween Party at the park in 2019 and has been a hit ever since. It replaced the Mickey's Halloween Party, which replaced Mickey's Halloween Treat and Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party, which was the name of the party since 2005.
This party is a full-fledged villain-themed party and is a huge improvement on the Mickey's party in every way – character lineup, immersive experiences, and atmosphere. So what makes Oogie Boogie Bash so special? Well, the party is capped, only a certain number of tickets are sold to anyone who wants to attend the party on a given evening. This ensures a more exclusive and premium experience than a regular day at the park. That said, you can only get into the party with a ticket!

Oogie Boogie Bash Ticket Sale
When Do Tickets Go on Sale?
Disney Oogie Boogie Bash tickets go on sale each year towards the end of June, on a Thursday. Disney will announce the official ticket sale date some time during the "halfway to Halloween" period, which is at the end of June.
To give you an idea of when tickets will go on sale in the future, here are the sale dates for the year 2025. You can use this to plan ahead and get tickets to the event. Please note that the sale date for the year 2026 is already announced.
Here's the 2025 timeline as a real-world example you can plan around:
June 24, 2025 (9 AM PT): Inspire Magic Key holders got first access
June 25, 2025 (9 AM PT): All other Magic Key holders
June 26, 2025 (9 AM PT): General public sale
For 2026, dates have already been announced (more on that below), so keep an eye on the Disneyland website for when the ticket sale date drops, it'll likely follow the same late-June pattern.
Pro Tip: While the official ticket sale time is at 9 AM Pacific Time, the virtual waiting room is available earlier than that. You will be able to buy tickets even a minute or two before the official sale time!
Where to Buy Tickets (And Where NOT To)
You can only buy tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash at one place, and that is on the Disneyland website itself.
So, if you find tickets for sale on StubHub, eBay, Craigslist, Facebook, etc., do not, we repeat, DO NOT buy them! Disney has a process in place to detect resold tickets and has been known to invalidate them if they find out. People who bought tickets from resellers ended up showing up at the gate and getting denied entrance! And if you're a seller, thinking of selling your extra tickets? Disney has even gone to the extent of revoking Magic Key passes from resellers!
In 2023, scalpers were selling tickets for a four-person order for as much as $2,000! Disney caught wind of this and has been able to invalidate those tickets, along with working with resellers to find out who they are and invalidate those tickets too!
How to Get Oogie Boogie Bash Tickets: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Get Your Group Together BEFORE Sale Day
This is the most obvious first step, but somehow, people still mess this up. The second you finally make it through the virtual line and are ready to buy tickets, you have 10 minutes to complete the entire transaction. Not the time to send out the group text saying "Okay, what night is best for everyone?"
Do this ahead of time:
Determine your top 5 desired nights in order of preference
Know the total number of people in the group (you can purchase up to 8 tickets per transaction)
Know the backup plan nights in case the first night is sold out
Know the person responsible for the purchase (this is much easier if only 1 person is doing the purchase)
Step 2: Create (and Prepare) Your Disneyland Account
Make sure you have a Disney account if you don't have one already. Not the morning of the ticket sales, now. Log in ahead of time. Make sure your payment method is saved and ready to go. You'd be surprised how many people make it through the virtual line and are ready to buy, only to find out they forgot to save their payment method and have to scramble around for their wallet while the clock is ticking down!
Also, make sure your email is verified and that your Disney account is in good standing. The last thing you want is to find out, as the clock is running down, that you need to reset your password because you forgot the email associated with the Disney account was the old email and you need to reset the password.
Step 3: Get a Magic Key (If You Can)
This is the greatest advantage that Insiders enjoy when it comes to obtaining Oogie Boogie Bash tickets, and most guides completely skip this step. If you have a Magic Key, you will be able to access tickets before the general public.
In 2025, this meant:
Inspire Magic Key: First access, limited presale tickets (June 24)
All other Magic Key holders: June 25
General Public: June 26
This 2-day jump-start is massive, considering how fast Oogie Boogie Bash tickets tend to sell out. Experienced Oogie Boogie Bash Insiders on Reddit report that having a Magic Key has made their experience much less stressful every year. If you plan on attending Oogie Boogie Bash annually, the math on having a Magic Key becomes extremely compelling.
Step 4: Open Multiple Browsers on Sale Day
Here’s a real-world hack that actually works: On the day of the Oogie Boogie Bash ticket sale, open the Oogie Boogie Bash ticket webpage in several browsers simultaneously, not just several tabs. If one browser gets into the virtual queue, several browsers should be allowed entry. The first one that succeeds will be the one that gets the ticket. It’s completely within Disney’s rules, and yes, this actually works!
I actually tested this method and it works! Out of the three browsers I had opened, the last one actually went through first! The more entries, the better!
Step 5: Enter the Queue Early and Use "Notify Me"
The virtual queue system Disney is using is actually quite user-friendly if you know how it works. Once you join the virtual queue, you do not have to sit there and stare at the screen. You can select "Notify Me" and they'll send you an email when it's your turn to purchase.
This is huge. No longer do you need to continuously refresh the page every 30 seconds for two hours. You can get on with your morning and check back when you are notified that the email is in your inbox. The only caveat is that you need to respond to the email quickly, as your spot is only reserved until then.
Step 6: Choose Your Date Strategically
Not all Oogie Boogie Bash dates sell at the same rate! The following are the dates that tend to sell fast and those that tend to sell slower, based on experience and historical sales data:
Sell Out Fastest:
The very first night of the season (always extremely popular)
Dates in October, especially the last few nights before Halloween
Sunday nights (slightly higher demand)
Halloween night itself (Oct. 31)
Tend to Last Longer:
Early August dates (Tuesdays especially)
Mid-week dates, especially earlier in the season
The cheaper nights
Ticket prices for 2025 range from $139 per person for Tuesdays in early August to $199 for Halloween night itself. If cost is a factor, then a Tuesday night in August or early September is a good bet, cheaper and a better chance to get a ticket!
2026 Oogie Boogie Bash: What We Already Know
Disney released the full calendar for 2026 quite early, December 2025. While this is unusual for Disney, it is a blessing for people who like to plan. Here is what we know so far for the 2026 Oogie Boogie Bash:
- Dates: August 18 through October 31, for a total of 33 nights, more than ever for this bash!
Monthly Schedule:
- August: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays—starting August 18.
- September: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays—full schedule.
- October: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays—ends October 31, a Saturday.
Ticket prices and when they go on sale have yet to be released for 2026, but based on previous years, expect an announcement sometime this spring, with tickets going on sale in late June 2026.
One other thing you might not know about Oogie Boogie Bash is while Disney announced the dates for 2026 quite early, this is a sign they expect to expand this bash even further. While they have increased the number of dates to 33 nights, this year and last year they had only 31 nights and 27 nights, respectively. More nights do not mean you can be lazy about getting your tickets!
What If Tickets Are Sold Out?
You've missed the sale, and tickets are sold out? No worries! You've got a few legitimate options, and I'm not afraid to tell you they're long shots, but they've worked before, so here they are:
Option 1: Check for Cancellation Tickets
While Disney does not sell cancelled tickets through the main ticket sale page, they do from time to time due to resellers getting shut down and actual cancellations from guests who bought tickets and later cancelled them. You won't find a "tickets are back on sale" announcement on Disneyland.com, so you've got to check often!
Option 2: Call Guest Services
While most people won't think to call, the Disney Tourist Blog has specifically recommended this one, and it might just work for you! Call (714) 781-4636 and ask if they've got same-day tickets available. Guest Services at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels might just have a few tickets for hotel guests, and it won't cost you a thing to call and ask.
Option 3: Book the VIP Tour
While tickets are sold out, the Oogie Boogie Bash VIP Tour tickets are often still available, and here's why they might be worth considering:
Park Hopper tickets to Disneyland Park and DCA
An 8-hour private tour experience with a personal tour guide
Early Park Entry, starting as early as 2:30 PM
$30 food and beverage credit per guest
Priority access to Villains Grove Trail
VIP reserved parade viewing area, including dessert box
Private character meet-and-greet experience
Exclusive VIP pin and Jack-o-Lantern candy holder
Complimentary valet parking
For an 8-person party, the split will be approximately $937 to $1,062 per person.
It’s not cheap, but if it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, then it becomes a next-level experience.
To book, call (714) 300-7710 or email DisneylandVIPTours.
My honest opinion, after researching this in depth, the VIP tour experience is an underrated experience in most reviews online! If you’re celebrating a milestone birthday, a bachelorette party, or a family reunion, and you want the absolute best experience possible without the hassle, then this is the answer to your dreams. Access to the front of the line on the treat trails is worth the experience alone, considering the lines can be 45-60 minutes long!
How to Choose the Best Date for You
Selecting your date isn’t just about availability; it’s about knowing what your date will be like. Here's how it all breaks down:
August (Tues/Thurs)
Price Range: $139–$154
Crowd Level: Lowest
Best For: Budget-conscious families, first-timers
August/Early Sept (Sundays)
Price Range: $154
Crowd Level: Moderate
Best For: Families who prefer weekends
Mid-September
Price Range: $154–$169
Crowd Level: Moderate
Best For: Sweet spot; fall feeling without crowds
Late September/Early Oct
Price Range: $169–$179
Crowd Level: Higher
Best For: Best decorations + weather
Late October
Price Range: $179–$199
Crowd Level: Highest
Best For: Peak Halloween vibes, most costume energy
Halloween (Oct 31)
Price Range: $199
Crowd Level: Extremely High
Best For: Die-hards only; incredibly festive
The dates closer to Halloween offer the best atmosphere, costumes, and crowds. If you want atmosphere and don’t mind paying a premium for it and dealing with crowds, then late October is your best bet. If you want shorter lines for your favorite characters and an easier overall experience, especially if you have young children, August is actually an underappreciated gem!
One interesting thing I have noticed is that the first night of the season always sells out almost immediately, even though it's in August and priced at the lowest tier. It's just opening night excitement; people want to be the first to experience it all. Ironically, nights two and three of this week tend to be easier to get tickets for and offer an almost equally magical experience!
Oogie Boogie Tips
While getting the tickets is the challenging part, using the tickets effectively is the fun part. The following are the ways to make the most out of the night:
Arrive at 2:30 PM – Not 3:00 PM
Your ticket will give you access to California Adventure as early as 3:00 PM, but the entrance to the Oogie Boogie Bash will have check-in lines. The lines for check-in tend to be very long by 6 PM, and arriving early is the best option. If you enter through the Grand Californian Hotel entrance, the lines tend to be shorter compared to the main entrance.
Hit Character Lines Strategically
The rare villain characters are the main highlight of the Oogie Boogie Bash. In 2025, the characters that are available to meet and take a picture with include Oogie Boogie, Hades, Judge Doom, Maleficent, Syndrome, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Ernesto de la Cruz, Agatha Harkness, and many more! These are characters that you will hardly find on other days.
The following are the strategies that are sure to make the most out of the night:
Hit the first 2 characters you must meet first, as soon as the party begins at 6 PM
Skip the newest/most popular characters first – these lines tend to be the longest
Hit the new characters after 9 PM – the lines tend to be much shorter, especially during the parade
The Frightfully Fun Parade is shown twice a night, at 7:45 PM and 10:00 PM. The vast majority of people are watching the first showing, so it is harder to get a good viewing spot! The second showing is generally a better place to get a good viewing spot because people have cleared out somewhat. Additionally, because lines for rides are shorter while the parade is happening, if you can make the first parade, you can use the second parade time to get on rides with little to no wait!
Bring Your Own Trick-or-Treat Bag
You get a free candy bag when you check into your hotel, and while Disney does give you a lot of candy, the bag is tiny. The cast members give out candy liberally, and the Disney bag fills up quickly. You should bring your own bag. While this is a minor suggestion, it is actually important, especially if you are on your fourth candy hunt and it is 9 PM.
Visit Villains Grove After Dark
Villains Grove is a walk-through area inside Redwood Creek that is immersed and lit up. It does not start until after dark, though, and if you go to this area right at 6 PM, you may be disappointed with the light effect. It is worth the wait, though, and you should go after dark.
Consider Staying at the Grand Californian
If you can afford to stay at the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa on your party night, this is one of the best upgrades you can make to your trip. There is a direct entrance to California Adventure, and if you stay here, at 11 PM when your party is over, you can walk directly into your hotel lobby (which even has an Oogie Boogie display during Halloween Time).
What You Can and Can’t Wear
This is one of the best things about Oogie Boogie Bash, all guests can wear costumes, even adults! That's right, all guests can wear costumes, regardless of age. That's big, considering you can’t wear costumes on regular days at Disneyland if you’re an adult. That means this is the one night a year you can go all out Halloween at Disneyland!
The rules for costumes are relaxed but still rules nonetheless:
✅ All guests can wear costumes regardless of age
✅ Green face paint, elaborate costumes, complete character looks – all okay
❌ Full-face masks that cover your eyes – nope
❌ Costumes can’t touch/drag on the ground – trip hazard
❌ Realistic weapons not okay
❌ Can’t be offensive, violent, etc.
❌ Can’t be dressed up as a Disney character to take photos and sign autographs for other guests
❌ Children under 14 have the same rules as adults for this event – can wear costumes, but all rules apply
The costume crowd at Oogie Boogie Bash is part of what makes this event so fun and electric! I’ve seen some reports of people dressed in some of the most creative costumes ever, families of all dressed up as the Sanderson Sisters, villain groups, animated Disney character costumes, etc. Go wild. It's your night!
How Oogie Boogie Bash Became the Halloween Event
If you never knew, Oogie Boogie Bash was not born out of thin air. It was born out of a long-standing tradition:
1995-1996: Original Mickey's Halloween party at Disneyland Park
2005-2007: Mickey's Halloween Treat at Disney California Adventure
2008-2009: Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party (DCA)
2010-2018: Mickey's Halloween Party returns to Disneyland Park
2019: Relocates to DCA, rebranded Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party
It was a game-changer in 2019. It was the first year of the Frightfully Fun Parade at DCA, the Villainous World of Color water show (which was discontinued), and an enormous increase in rare villain characters! The original price for tickets in 2019 was between $105 and $130. In contrast, it was between $139 and $199 in 2025. Prices have increased about 20% since 2021, but so have the number of dates (from 20 in 2019 to 33 in 2026)!
Your Most-Asked Oogie Boogie Bash Questions, Answered
Do I need a regular park ticket AND an Oogie Boogie Bash ticket on the same day?
No, your Oogie Boogie Bash ticket will get you early entry into California Adventure Park starting at 3 PM, so you don’t need to buy a separate ticket to the park. However, if you want to go to Disneyland Park or DCA before 3 PM, then yes, you would need a ticket.
Can kids attend? What's the age minimum?
There is no minimum age requirement, so kids of all ages are welcome, and those under the age of 2 are free. Kids love the trick-or-treating, which is a huge part of the Oogie Boogie Bash, so don’t worry about them wanting to go.
Do ticket prices go up every year?
Yes, the past several years, the price has gone up $5 to $10, but in 2025, the price actually went down slightly compared to 2024.
Is Lightning Lane available during Oogie Boogie Bash?
No, the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and the Lightning Lane Premier Pass are not available during the Oogie Boogie Bash. However, the lines are generally much shorter during the party compared to other nights, so you can just walk onto the rides.
Are PhotoPass photos included?
Yes, the Oogie Boogie Bash ticket gets you unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads, so be sure to take advantage of all the photo opportunities, especially the rare characters!
What if I purchase a ticket, but I am unable to attend? Can I get a refund?
Tickets cannot be refunded or sold/resold. If you cannot attend, you can give your ticket away to someone you know, but selling your ticket will result in Disney voiding your ticket, which will hurt both parties.
When should I arrive if I want to have the most time in the park?
You should plan to arrive around 2:30 PM if you want to get in during the first wave. The 3-6 PM window will allow you to experience rides with no party crowds, eat dinner, and get your wristband. The party will begin at 6 PM and go until 11 PM.
Are there any Oogie Boogie Bash discounts?
No, there aren't any discounts, whether Magic Key holder, DVC, or anyone else. The only discount I could find was if you book your dates in early August, when prices per ticket will be lower.
What if my date gets cancelled by Disney?
If Disney cancels a party night, which has happened due to inclement weather, Disney will offer attendees the option to attend a future date or receive a refund.
Is it worth the price?
The short answer is yes! For most Disney fans, absolutely! The experience of seeing rare characters, exclusive entertainment, limited crowds, trick-or-treating, and being able to wear costumes makes this one of the most unique events offered at Disneyland. It has been given high marks, despite increasing prices.
Final Bit of Information
I've scoured every top guide, every top resource, every top expert’s opinion on the Oogie Boogie Bash, and the one thing I see playing out in all of them is the stress of the ticket sales process being half the fun once you know what to expect.
The people who stress out the morning of the sales, the people who don’t know what dates they want, the people who don’t have a payment method ready, the people who don’t have all the browsers open in preparation? Those are the people who go home empty-handed, those are the people who think the event is impossible.
The people who approach the sales process as a casual hobby? The people who have their group chat all set by June 1st, the people who know what their #1, #2, and #3 date options are, the people who have their Disneyland account all set, the people who have a Magic Key in their back pocket? Those are the people who get tickets every year, those are the people who make the process a ritual, those are the people who make the process part of the Halloween experience.
The system isn’t rigged, the system is fair, but you do need to show up prepared and ready!
